SouthCoast Media Group seeks multimedia reporter

SouthCoast Media Group, based in New Bedford, Mass., is seeking a qualified reporter who is comfortable working on deadline and telling stories across multiple platforms. This job will marry new and old media, with the qualified candidate responsible for reporting on deadline for SouthCoastToday.com, as well as for The Standard-Times.
The qualified candidate will be an experienced reporter who is comfortable covering traditional “hard news” stories (municipal government, cops and courts, spot news, etc.) as well and feature and other general assignment reporting.

Ability to work quickly and accurately on deadline is a must. In addition to meeting deadlines for the daily paper, this reporter will also file frequent updates for our award-winning Web site, SouthCoastToday.com and will have the opportunity to maintain a blog or virtual beat.

For reporters with demonstrated multimedia experience, this is your chance to shine. The reporter we hire will be given the opportunity to show off a wide range of skills beyond traditional print reporting, including shooting and production of video reports, photography and production of audio slideshows. Demonstrated multimedia experience is preferred.

The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, 401(k) and paid vacation.

To apply, please send a resume, writing and design samples to Editor Bob Unger, The Standard-Times, 25 Elm St., New Bedford, MA, 02740.
